The 40th Junior PGA Championship kicked off Monday in Texas at Miramont Country Club, boasting two fields of 78 for the boys and girls championships.

Three New Jersey natives hit the links in the national tournament and find themselves near the middle of the pack in their respective fields.

In the boys’ division, John Pak, of Scotch Plains, and Ryan Davis, of Berkeley Heights, are part of a logjam for 23rd place after shooting two-over, 73, in round one Monday. Pak finished with three birdies, including two on the front nine, while Davis mixed in three birdies and two eagles.

In the girls’ division, Edgewater’s Kelly Sim recorded a 7-over, 78, Monday to place in a tie for 46th after day one. She finished with three birdies.

Davis and Pak both tee off for Tuesday’s second round at 10:50 a.m. ET, despite being in separate pairings. The girls’ championship restarts later in the afternoon, with Sim hitting the tees at 3:40 p.m. ET.
