Brian Komline (Black Oak GC) currently sits at the top of the leaderboard at the Metropolitan Golf Association’s 59th Ike Stroke Play Championship, which is currently under way at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J. Komline took the lead from overnight leader Sam Bernstien (Century CC), who finished yesterday with a first round 66.
Komline, who fired a 1-under par, 69 yesterday to tie for third, currently sits at 3-under for today’s round. Bernstein trails by 1 stoke, with a two-day total of 3-under par. Mike Stamberger (Spring Lake GC) is currently 1-over for the day, resting at third place.
Komline won the NJSGA Amateur Championship on Montclair’s Third and Fourth Nines back in 2010, and feels confident in his experience on the course. Stamberger and Komline, both New Jersey natives, hope their previous experiences on the course will serve them well going into the final 36 holes today.
