New Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann had a rough round on a wet, windy course on Friday morning. Hoffmann fired a 4-over, 76, and will miss the cut at The Open Championship.
Hoffmann was able to work himself back to even par for the tournament after posting a 1-under, 35, on the front 9. However, the back 9 did not go as planned for Hoffmann, who carded two bogeys, a double and a triple, to pair with 2 birdies. Hoffmann’s two day score of 5-over, 149 (T-145), will leave him well below the projected cut line.
This may have been Hoffmann’s last Major appearance of the year as he has yet to qualify for The PGA Championship. He will need a first place finish in a PGA sponsored event or to move into the top 70 in PGA’s Official Money Standings, where Hoffman currently ranks 78th.
