It was a great day to kick off the season on Saturday in Maplewood, a great turnout for the a 2014 edition of the Dr. William Lowell Opening Day Scramble. The rain overnight made the ground a little moist, but not enough to keep Maplewood. from getting the season started.
The team of Bernard Davidson, Jon Kattouf, Michael Roth, and Jason Grebin took first place this year after chipping in for birdie on the penultimate hole to beat the team of Phil Henderson, Michael Davidson, Elliot Rogoff, and Howard Goldbas by one shot.
The roars of Maplewood were heard throughout the golf course all morning as the teams were lighting up the leaderboard with low numbers. Five teams broke 60 this year (a new Opening Day record) as scoring conditions were perfect.
The next event in the Men’s schedule will be the Fred Baker Member-Member. It takes place May 3rd, 4th, and 10th, starting times beginning at 8:00 AM. Sign up now by seeing a member of the golf shop, or via e-mail at MaplewoodProShop@gmail.com
A special thank you to Mark Miedler and his staff for keeping the course in great condition as always.
