Home News John McCarthy, Mark Yannotta win Monday’s weather-shorthened Senior Junior Championship

Despite mother nature’s lack of cooperation, Monday’s Senior Junior Championship was held at Fairmount CC in Chatham, NJ with 32 competing teams. The 27 Hole Team Championship was shortened to just 18 holes, however, with 9 holes of four-ball stroke play and nine holes of pinehurst.

Mark Yannotta (Anchor Golf Center) and John McCarthy (Morris County GC) fired a 5-under par, 67, to take home first place, despite the rain.  Their seven combined birdies and two bogies clipped Marty Vybihal (Apple Ridge CC) and Ken Pridgen (Suneagles GC) by one stroke.

This was McCarthy’s first time winning the event and the second for Yannotta, who first won in 2004 with Rob Schaal.
