Newton Country Club hosted the NJPGA’s Junior Masters Tour Event, which took place June 30 through July 1, 2014. In the girl’s 11-15 division, Ami Gianchandani (Short Hills) took first place by shooting a 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second round, and finishing with a total of 148; good enough for an ending score of +8 on the par 70 course. Ami finished with the most birdies and highest scoring average in the event. Taking second place in this division was Tiya Chowdary (Montgomery), finishing with a score of 162.
In the girl’s 16-18 division, Haley Mander (Holmdel) took first place by shooting an 82 in the first round and an 82 in the second round, finishing with a total of 164, allowing her to finish with a +22 on the par 71 course. Finishing in second place was Rachel Tarnopoll (Sparta) with a total score of 172.
In the boy’s 11-15 division, Jake Mayer (Scotch Plains) took first place, shooting a 73 in the first round and a 74 in the second round, ending with a total of 147 on the par 70 course. Coming in second place was Ryan Fitzsimmons (North Haledon), closing with a final score of 152, just shy of Mayer’s 147.
In the boy’s 16-18 division, Dylan Stein (Flemington) captured the win with a 73 in both rounds, giving him and final score of 146 on the course. Trailing behind by just 3 strokes was Alex Aulerich (Pottersville), finishing with a total of 149 and good enough for second place.
