Springdale Golf Club in Princeton and Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway hosted the NJPGA Junior Tour University Open, sponsored by Nike Golf, on July 15-16, despite the threat of thunderstorms. For the girls, Monica Schumacher of Basking Ridge lead the Girls 16-18 Division with a five-over par, 76 on the first day. Holding on to that lead, Monica captured the win by shooting an 81 on the second day. In the Girls 11-15 Division Cassandra Lee, of Wayne, was leading with a two-over, 73, but the second day, Ami Gianchandani, of Short Hills, came from behind and shot a 74 to win by one stroke over Lee.

For the boys, John Driscoll III, of Ridgewood, captured the win for the Boys 11-15 Division at the Junior Open with a 5-under, 66 the first day and shot a 77 on the second day to add to his impressive Day 1 score of 66. Dylan Stein, of Flemington, lead the Boys 16-18 Division with a 9-hole total of two-under, 33 at the end of Day 1. Stein fired a second round 73 to secure the win over Brendon Kim of River Vale (109).
